Briefly: Juvenile held for snatching
Phagwara: The police have arrested third accused on the charge of snatching a mobile phone and certificates from a girl. The accused Diljit, alias Lili, is a resident of Pasla village. Paramjit Singh of Aade Kali village had complained to the police that he was returning home from Jandiala village with his daughter on August 14 afternoon when the accused snatched a bag containing a mobile phone and certificates from his daughter. A case was registered against three persons. OC
Two arrested for betting
Hoshiarpur: The police arrested two accused for betting and recovered Rs 39,260 from them. According to information, the police arrested Harpreet Singh, alias Honey, resident of Basi Khabaju, for betting and recovered Rs 8,630 from him, while the police of Garhshankar arrested Mohan Lal, resident of the district, for betting and recovered Rs. 30,630 cash from him. Woman held with hooch
Phagwara: The Bilga police have arrested a woman for selling illicit liquor. Investigating officer Dalwana Singh said 30 bottles of hooch were seized from accused Sukhjindar Kaur, alias Sukhi, a resident of Sango Wal village. A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the accused. OC
Married woman found missing
Phagwara: The police have registered a missing report in connection with the disappearance of a married woman. Investigating officer Sarwan Singh said Rajwant Kaur (28), wife of Talwindar Pal Singh, of Saidpur Jhirri village has been missing for the last three days and a missing report has been registered. OC
Villager dies by suicide
Phagwara: A villager has reportedly died by suicide. The deceased has been identified as Navjot Singh of Nawan Pind Jattan village and was living at Mahalla Preet Nagar Nakodar. Kewal Singh of Basesharpur village informed the police about the incident. OC
Man Arrested for theft
Phagwara: The Phagwara police have arrested a person and recovered one stolen mobile phone from his possession on Thursday night. SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said the arrested youth was identified as Aurangjeb Khan, resident of Mohalla Kaulsar, Phagwara. A case has been registered against the arrested accused. OC
Woman held with intoxicant
Hoshiarpur: The Dasuya police arrested a woman on Thursday on the charges of smuggling and seized 62 gram of narcotic powder from her. The accused woman has been identified as Rozi, a resident of Kahlwan. A case has been registered against her under the NDPS Act. OC
