Phillaur: The Bilga police on Saturday booked unidentified persons on the charge of stealing batteries from a mobile tower.Sukhdev Raj, a resident of Nurmahal, complained to the police that thieves stolen 24 cells batteries from a tower of mobile operator at Talwann village on Thursday night. Investigating Officer (IO), Harjindar Singh, said a case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC had been registered.OC

Minor kidnapped, youth booked

Nakodar: The Lohian Khas police on Saturday booked a youth on the charge of kidnapping a minor. The IO, Kulwindar Singh, said the accused had been identified as Akashdip Singh, alias Deep, a resident of Jagral village, under Sadar Jamsher police station.Kewal Singh of Badshah Pur village complained to the police that the suspect kidnapped his minor daughter Kirandip Kaur (17) by inducing her. The IO said a case under Sections 363 and 366-A of the IPC had been registered. OC

Illicit liquor seized

Nurmahal: The police on Friday arrested a local resident on the charge of smuggling liquor. The IO, Avtar Lal, said 12 bottles of liquor were seized from the possession of the suspect identified as Jasbir, alias Jassi, a resident of Mohalla Bhariyan. A case under Sections 61,1 and 14 of the Excise Act has been registered. OC

Three held for assault

Nakodar: The police on Saturday arrested three persons, including two women, on the charge of assaulting a Shahkot resident. Investigating Officer (IO), Harwindar Singh, said the suspects have been identified as Anil Kumar, alias Nila, of Kaliyann Pur village, under Lambarra police station, his wife Puja and Parvin, alias Nina, wife of Michal, a resident of Dargabad village. Aaillis of Salaichan village, in Shahkot, complained to the police that the accused waylaid, assaulted, injured and threatened him. The IO said a case under Sections 323, 341, 506 and 34 of the IPC were registered against the suspects. OC

One booked for kidnapping minor

Nakodar: The police on Saturday arrested a youth on the charge of kidnapping a minor. The (IO), Lovelin Kumar, said the suspect had been identified as Jatindar Singh of Nathu Chahal village in Kapurthala. Sohan Singh, a resident of Kulaar village, complained to the police that the suspect kidnapped his minor daughter by inducing her. The IO said a case under Sections 363 and 366-A of the IPC was registered against the suspect. OC
