The city police claim to have solved a loot case within three hours and nabbed a person, who reportedly masterminded the incident. On Wednesday, around 11 am, two unidentified persons snatched a cash envelope containing Rs 10 lakh from a businessman, Pankaj Mata, near Geeta Mandir, Central Town and fled.
As per information, Pankaj left from his home to handover the envelope to his friend Munish at the Central Town for business purposes. When Pankaj gave the envelope to Munish, two masked persons, one of whom was on foot, while another on bike, appeared at the scene and before Pankaj and Munish could respond, they snatched the envelope and fled.
As per the police, when they received the information, they started gathering clues to trace the unidentified accused. However, after scrutinising a CCTV footage and investigating the case from different aspects, they called Munish for questioning. “During interrogation, Munish confessed that he had plotted the loot. He said the two persons, who committed the crime, were paid for the job and were following Pankaj since he left his house,” said the police.
They further said a case under Section 379 B of the IPC had been registered against Munish and Rs 9.89 lakh had been recovered from his possession. “Further investigation in the case is underway and raids are being conducted to arrest the other accused involved in the crime,” they said. — TNS
