The district administration has started getting complaints via C-Vigil app that has been started by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the first time ahead of the Lok Sabha poll 2019 that is scheduled to be held on May 19 in the state.

As per information, on Sunday, a complaint from a village was received in which the sarpanch of the village was distributing Atta-Dal forms, thus violating the Model Code of Conduct.

A resident then lodged the complaint on the app after which the complaint got resolved when the administration plunged into action and the practice was stopped. Notably, the C-Vigil app has been launched by the ECI to enable citizens to complain against violations of model code of conduct or any corrupt practices. As per information, all complaints registered on the android app would be resolved within 100 minutes.

Any individual could upload a video clip or a picture regarding the violation of the poll code after downloading the app from Google play or Apple store on their cell phones. Till now, around 18 complaints have been received through C-Vigil app. Of these complaints, most were regarding the putting up of posters and pictures of leaders by parties and other violations by leaders and their parties.

GPS to track movement of flying squad

There is GPS also which would track the movement of the flying squad team (FST).

Sources from the administration said when a complaint was lodged by a resident recently, FST members were asked to reach the spot. One of the members gave the reply that he would reach the spot within five minutes, but the GPS location showed the location of the member far from the spot and it would have taken hours for the respective member to reach the spot.

This is how officers keep the track and no one can escape the duty or tell a lie.

“A district controlling centre has been set up for the app where the complaints get registered and from here the complaint goes to the nearest FST present. Also, AROs of the respective area will have 50 minutes to decide upon the complaints,” said one of the officers.

As per information, if the complaint is big and in case there is a massive distribution of liquor taking place at some place, then there will be no time limit as the complaint from the AROs will be moved to the Excise Department and then the action will be taken accordingly.
