Jalandhar: Ivy World School bid farewell to its batch of 2024-2025, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey. The Board aspirants of Grade 12 were welcomed by their educators with the traditional ritual of ‘Tilak’. The ceremony began with the showering of petals to bless the children and with the chanting of shlokas and mantras by all present and the serving of the holy ‘prasad’. The occasion was graced by the presence of Naveen Singla, DIG, Jalandhar, and school chairman Sanjeev Kumar Vasal. Scholarships worth Rs 30 lakh were awarded to 12 students, who excelled in academics on the occasion of ‘Blessing Ceremony’. The students and parents voiced their thoughts about their school life. They expressed gratitude towards the tireless efforts of teachers in making them confident and helping them at every step. Director Principal S Chauhan blessed them. She encouraged them to be thankful to each and every person who played a vital role in their lives.

Jalandhar: Two students of Swami Sant Dass Public School —- Jayant Grover and Raghav Jain —- students of Class XI, showcased their mental agility at the national-level STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) quiz organised by the Department of Science and Technology at Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad. This is an initiative by the CBSE to inculcate scientific temperament among young students. The two reached the pinnacle after a rigorous process of selection from among 10 lakh students across the country. The initial shortlisting was for 1,080 students, of which only 100 students reached the final level. After clearing online selection round, they participated in the National STEM Challenge at Gujarat in which Raghav Jain won the 10th position at the national level and Jayant Grover the 38th position. These two students came back with a bag full of prizes. Raghav Jain received amazing gifts, including Samsung Galaxy Tablet, two drones and a 3D printer. Jayant Grover received a Google AI kit and a drone. Principal Dr Sonia Mago appreciated the remarkable efforts of these students and encouraged them to participate in such challenging activities to excel in life.

Sarpanches attend exhibition

Jalandhar: Innocent Hearts School, Cantt-Jandiala Road, organised an inspiring exhibition on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)-13, Climate Action, as a CSR project under DISHA, an initiative of the Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, dignitaries and local leaders. Sarpanches from various nearby villages attended the event, contributing valuable insights. During the exhibition, students showcased innovative models based on ‘Climate Action’. A captivating Nukkad Natak on “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” and ‘Climate Action’ left the audience inspired. A free diabetes medical check-up camp was organised by the Innocent Hearts Medical Care Centre. To promote climate consciousness, the guests participated in a tree plantation activity. A group discussion with Sarpanches and dignitaries explored effective strategies for environmental protection, garbage recycling and raising community awareness. The Sarpanches emphasised on the importance of organising medical camps in rural areas and encouraged collective action for environmental sustainability. The Sarpanches who visited the exhibition were Amandeep Kaur of Nanakpindi village, Satnam Singh of Bhode Saprai, Vijay Kumar of Shahpur, Sandeep Basu of Diwali, Nattha Singh of Chananpur and Gurinder Pal Singh of Jamsher Khas

Shabad Gayan competition

Phagwara: The 11th Inter School Shabad Gayan competition was held in Kamla Nehru Primary School. Students from various schools of Phagwara participated in the competition. On the occasion, Principal (Admin and Innovation) of Kamla Nehru Public School, Paramjit Kaur Dhillon, was the chief guest and Iqbal Singh and Lovepreet Love were present as judges in the competition. Sahibzada Ajit Singh School got the first prize in the contest. The second prize was received by STS World School and third prize was received by Swami Sant Dass Public School. They were honoured by the chief guest and special guests. Consolation prize was given to the students of Divine Public School. The programme came to an end with a Shabad sung by the students of Kamla Nehru Primary School. School headmistress Jyoti Bhardwaj expressed her gratitude to all the guests, students and teachers who attended the programme.

Blessing ceremony held

Hoshiarpur: A grand farewell ceremony was organised at Cambridge International School, Dasuya, to honour the students of Class 12. The event was attended by the school’s management, principal, teachers, students and their parents. The programme aimed to commemorate the moments of the students’ school journey and extend best wishes for their future. A havan (ritual offering) was conducted for the students. A special prayer was held for their Board exams and bright future. The blessing ceremony was conducted under the theme “Odyssey” and scholarships worth Rs 51 lakh were distributed to students who had scored more than 95 per cent in their Class 10 Board exams. A special farewell party was organised for the students. The event commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp, followed by various cultural performances, including poetry recitation and dance performances. The students and their parents shared their experiences and appreciated the collective efforts of the school management, principal and teachers. It was a special and unforgettable day for the students. Chairman Sanjeev Kumar Vasal blessed the students and shared his life experiences, emphasising the importance of education and time management.

Workshop on dining etiquettes

Jalandhar: A workshop on dining etiquettes was organised at St. Soldier Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology in which students were made aware about dining etiquette and its importance. The workshop was conducted under the leadership of Food and Beverage Service lecturer Mangat Singh. College principal Kirti Sharma guided the students and told them that in the professional world, dining etiquette plays a vital role in career advancement. Good dining etiquette also strengthens personal relationships. Proper etiquette also promotes a sense of respect and consideration towards each other which ultimately strengthens the bond between individuals. Group vice-chairperson Sangeeta Chopra appreciated the initiative of the college and said that dining etiquette plays an important role in social relations, personal relationships and professional life and reflects on our upbringing, education and cultural awareness. Hence, it is important to understand how to eat and drink and even how to sit at the table.
