Campus notes: Motivational lecture
Jalandhar: Apeejay College of Fine Arts organised a motivational lecture for NCC students. Colonel Vinod Joshi (Commanding Officer, 2 Punjab NCC Battalion) was present as the resource person and interacted with the young brigade of Apeejay. Col Joshi talked about the basic principles of NCC and how it shapes one’s personality and develops a sense of discipline and leadership amongst students. Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra emphasised upon the importance of joining NCC to make the young generation aware about the importance of discipline in life. She also acknowledged the efforts of Dr Neeraj Katyal and Komal in organising the guest lecture.
Workshop and expert talk
Jalandhar: The Department of Food Science and Technology, DAV College, organised a DBT-sponsored baking workshop on ‘Frosting cupcakes and cookie preparation’ and a lecture on ‘Genetically Modified Crops’. Vice-principal Prof Archana Oberoi, Head of the Department Prof Bhartendu Singla, Prof Anu Gupta (Coordinator DBT), Prof Puneet Puri (overall DBT coordinator) and Prof Pankaj Gupta (in-charge) welcomed the experts. In the workshop, expert trainer chef Bhagirathi Mahajan gave practical training to the students in making cupcakes and cookies. Dr Naveen Gupta, Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, participated as the keynote speaker. Dr Gupta explained the history, development process, benefits, controversies and consequences of GM foods in an effective manner.
Apeejay Talentonia
Jalandhar: Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering organised an event for its new batch of students —- Apeejay Talentonia 2024. The event provided a platform for freshers to showcase their talent, creativity and skills in various categories, including music, dance, drama, poetry and fashion. Gurshaan of BBA I was crowned ‘Best Singer’ for his captivating performance, while Rishab of MBA I earned the runners-up position with his melodious voice. In the realm of poetry, Jashanpreet of BCA I stole the show with a self-composed piece that resonated deeply with the audience, securing him the first position. Gurdeep of BBA I brought humour to the stage with his hilarious poem on college life, earning him the second place. Jayant Verma of BTech I emerged as the ‘Best Dancer’, wowing the audience with his energy and precision, while Yashica of BCA I left a lasting impression with her mesmerising moves and stage presence, establishing herself as one of the standout stars of the event.
