The School of Hospitality at GNA University celebrated World Tourism Day over two days with a series of engaging activities centered around this year’s theme ‘Tourism and Peace’. The events aimed to foster responsible travel practices and promote social harmony among students. The celebration commenced with a nukkad natak, performed by students, which creatively highlighted the importance of responsible tourism. The play emphasised how travellers should act mindfully, respecting local cultures, spreading brotherhood and avoiding environmental harm by reducing plastic waste. The key message of the day, encapsulated in the slogan ‘Travel mindfully, leave no regrets’, encouraged students to become ambassadors of peace while exploring different destinations. Several inter-school competitions, including a photography contest, reel making, speech competition and poster-making contest were held.

Fancy Dress Competition

Jalandhar: A fancy dress competition was organised for the students of classes Nursery to UKG at CJS Public School, under the guidance of Principal Ravi Suta. The little artists displayed enthusiasm during the competition. They played different roles under the given themes. For Class Nursery, the theme was vegetables, for Class LKG it was animal kingdom and for UKG it was stationery items. Ainamjyot and Taniya were the judges. The Principal appreciated the talent of the kids who played the roles of pencil, eraser, lion, book, rabbit, tiger, brinjal, tomato, cauliflower etc. They motivated little CJSians to continue indulging in such activities in the future. The winners from Nursery Class were Ganishka, Ajit Singh, Diksha and Diyara. Among LKG students Jorawar, Manmeet, Abhiroop, Anshika and Poorvi, while from UKG Agam, Kashvi, Harneet and Hashmeet bagged prizes.

Grandparents Day celebrated

Jalandhar: Grandparents Day was celebrated at Eklavya School. Chairman JK Gupta said grandparents were a blessing and should be valued and opportunities to connect with them should not be missed. Director of Eklavya School Seema Handa said relationships between children and their grandparent was based on pure and unconditional love. Different games were played by the grandparents like blow the balloon, zig-zag chain, musical chairs, aim the goal and make a pyramid. Parents enjoyed the games, too. Principal Komal Arora and Administrator Dimple Malhotra said grandparents were a gift from God that must be cherished.

Bhagat Singh’s birth anniv celebrated

Jalandhar: The birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh was celebrated at The Gurukul Campus with zeal. On the occasion, a special assembly was conducted at the school quadrangal. Several programmes on Bhagat Singh’s life were presented. Director Sushma Handa appreciated the efforts of the faculty and the students. Principal Radha Gakhar threw light on the martyr’s sacrifices for the country and its freedom. She also added that the youth should must follow his spirit. The celebration ended with playing the National Anthem.

Lad wins dist-level chess c’ship

Jalandhar: Yuvraj Surya, a student of Class IV, at Premjot Public Senior Secondary School, brought fame to the school by winning at the ongoing district-level chess championship ‘Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan’ by competing with 57 students from the U-14 category. Around 150 students from 18 schools participated in the event. School Managing Director Gurbinder Singh and Principal Sapna Chadha congratulated Yuvraj and his coach Lovepreet on the victory. The Principal appreciated Yuvraj for his master tactics and confidence that bagged him this honour and guided him to practice for the upcoming state-level chess championship.
