Making changes to the regular pattern of practical examinations being conducted for students in the CBSE affiliated schools, the board has proposed to conduct the practical examinations at external examination centres.

Similar to the theory-based exams, the board is likely to conduct the practical exams externally and the centres would be the same for both the theory and practical.

Possibly, the proposal would be implemented from 2020 academic session.

Until now, students used to appear for their practical exams in their school and visit the external centres from theoretical exams.

Apparently, the change was planned to cope up with the unavailability of desired equipment in some schools for conducting the practical examinations.

Also, there were a few schools, which did not even have laboratories to conduct examinations. Students of such schools would be sent to other schools to appear for their practical exam.

Besides, it was occurred that the board would also bring in a new marking scheme for practical exams from the next academic session, if they are conducted externally, reads the official statement.

In-addition, the students appearing for the exam will also be given a different admit card for admission to the centre of their practical exams.

In a previous step, the CBSE directed to conduct the practical exams for humanities also. The objective of this initiative is to make the board exams more relevant and practical.
