Child author from Rahon releases debut book in Istanbul
Amber, hailing from Rahon in Nawanshahr, has made headlines for his remarkable achievement as a children’s author in Istanbul, Turkey.
An alumnus of Kirpal Sagar Academy, Nawanshahr, Amber has transitioned from his roots in India to garner international recognition with the launch of his debut book, “Ela, the Flying Alligator”. This delightful piece of children’s literature, co-written with his close friend Nikhil, has been released in May in Istanbul.
Amber’s engagement with children’s education has seamlessly translated into his storytelling. Over the years, he developed close ties with young learners while teaching in a school in Istanbul.
These experiences have shaped the development of “Ela, the Flying Alligator”—a heartwarming story about courage, perseverance and the power of dreaming big.
Amber explained, “The story of Ela is about dreaming big and never giving up. Even if others doubt you or you doubt yourself, your dreams are worth chasing.” These words reflect not only the theme of the book but also Amber’s own life journey. From the serene landscape of Nawanshahr, imbued with Indian culture and values, he ventured into the world beyond, eventually establishing his identity as a dedicated educator and a storyteller.

The story’s central themes—perseverance, self-belief and kindness—are universal lessons that resonate with audiences of all ages. In his journey from Nawanshahr to Istanbul, Amber has shown that no matter how far one travels, the values of one’s homeland remain deeply ingrained, propelling one to make an impact that reflects the best of both worlds. Principal Gurjit Singh, while addressing media persons, said he was proud of students who were creating history.
