Close shave for 25 as bus falls into field in Nawanshahr

It was a close shave for nearly 25 passengers when the bus they were travelling in skid off the road and fell into a paddy field at Daulatpur in Nawanshahr on Sunday.

Fortunately, no casualty was reported, but a few passengers suffered minor injuries. The incident reportedly happened at 8.30 in the morning.

Mandeep Singh, who helped passengers get out of the bus, said it was his field where the accident took place. “The moment the bus skid off the road and fell into the paddy field, people from the nearby areas rushed to the spot. They offered help to them (passengers). The bus was moving at a high speed,” Mandeep Singh said.

The passengers were tormented and traumatised from the accident. As they were rescued and brought to safety, they thanked the Almighty as “the accident was scary”. “The bus was moving at a great speed, I thought we would die when it went off the road,” said one of passengers. The bus had children, college-going students and elderly too.
