College notes: Finance Club holds quiz
Jalandhar: The Finance Club at Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus hosted the ‘RBI90Quiz’, a nationwide competition initiated by the Reserve Bank of India to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The quiz was conducted for undergraduate students and featured a broad spectrum of multiple-choice questions designed to test general knowledge across various domains including current affairs, history, literature, sports, economy, finance and trivia, with a particular emphasis on RBI-related content. The event offered a unique opportunity for students to delve into milestones in India’s financial history while honing their knowledge of the RBI’s contributions to the nation’s economic development. With over 10 teams participating in the quiz, the competition was fierce and stimulating. The quiz unfolded in multiple stages, beginning with an online preliminary round and concluding with a finale that showcased the teams’ intellectual prowess, collaboration and competitive spirit. Dr Rajesh Bagga, director of the institute, lauded the students for their participation.
World Ozone Day
Jalandhar: The PG Department of Geography and the Department of Environmental Sciences of Lyallpur Khalsa College organised World Ozone Day to create awareness among the students regarding causal factors of ozone layer depletion. More than 110 students attended the event. Principal Dr Jaspal Singh was accorded a floral welcome by Dr Pooja Rana, Dr Jaswinder Kaur and faculty members of the Department of Geography. Dr Pooja Rana, Head of the Department of Geography, highlighted that the ozone layer is a protective layer present in the stratosphere which prevents entry of harmful ultraviolet radiations. The department organised poster/slogan/model-making competition on several topics and students of different colleges participated. In poster-making competition, Jasmeen Kaur of Government College, Hoshiarpur came first, followed by Bipasha of Doaba College and Bobby of Lyallpur Khalsa College and Nivriti Passi of NJSA Government College, Kapurthala jointly on the third place. Additionally, Jasmeen of Doaba College came in second place in the slogan-writing competition, while Bipasha of the same college earned the first place.
National Space Day celebrated
Jalandhar: The Innovation Council of Police DAV Public School organised a lecture on National Space Day to acquaint the students about robotics and various other science concepts. Principal Dr Rashmi Vij graced the occasion. She laid stress on the immense significance of the Chandrayaan mission in the world of space exploration and motivated students to enhance their sphere of knowledge and pursue dreams with passion and perseverance. The speakers for the day were Dr Deepansh and Dr Prince Kumar, both assistant professors at GNA University. They shared valuable information about Gesture-Controlled Robotic Arm. Ritika Sharma, faculty member, Police DAV Public School, acquainted the students with various concepts and principles that were used in the Chandrayaan mission.
Investiture ceremony of Youth Club
Jalandhar: The Students Welfare Association (SWA) and Youth Club of Apeejay College of Fine Arts held investiture ceremony for its core members, in-charges and co-incharges of various committees and all the members. The association is the biggest students body of the college. The SWA constitutes a total of 13 committees as event, discipline, placement, alumni, canteen, hospitality, women cell, library, stage handling, cultural, creative and publicity, technical and grievance redressal. The investiture ceremony began with a warm and floral welcome of Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra under whose leadership and expert guidance the entire event was organised. Dr Jagmohan Mago (Dean, SWA & Youth Club) said that the objective of both these clubs is to instill confidence in students. Nandini Bajaj and Shivansh Dua were chosen as Head Girl and Head Boy, respectively, for the academic session 2024-25.
Freshers’ party
Jalandhar: The Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions, Loharan, hosted its annual freshers’ party, Parichay 2024, warmly welcoming the newcomers. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Dr Anup Bowry, Chairman of Innocent Hearts, along with members of the management team. Students from various streams showcased their talent through captivating performances, solo songs, solo dances, group dances and choreography. The Mr Fresher title went to Kartikay Jain and Miss Fresher title was bagged by Isha Sahota.
