Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Tuesday directed officials of Smart City projects at Sultanpur Lodhi to ensure the completion of the work on a war footing to facilitate lakhs of pilgrims coming to the holy city.

Guidelines were issued regarding developing Government Girls Smart School at a cost of Rs 2.44 crore and setting up an Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) at a cost of about Rs 2 crore. Under the establishment of ICCC, CCTV cameras would be installed in the entire city besides connecting them to the central control for keeping an hawk eye on the city.
Chairing a review meeting of the Smart City projects here today, the DC asked Sultanpur Lodhi SDM Randeep Singh and Sewerage Board and Water Supply Department XEN to take stock of the beautification being carried out along the banks of Kali Bein in Jalandhar so that the work on the remaining part of it can be done on the same lines. The DC also asked officials of the PWD and Forest Departments and PSPCL to speed up the work on the four-laning of roads connecting Sultanpur Lodhi. The road from Didwindi to Sultanpur (about 6 km) and from Mundi Mor to Sultanpur (about 17.40 km) is being converted into four-lane to establish better connectivity with the holy city.
He asked the electricity board officials to complete the work of removing the poles from both sides of the roads in a time-bound manner. Meanwhile, officials of the forest department apprised DC that about 70 per cent of the work had been completed.
Sarangal also evaluated the process of installing bottle-crushing machines and water ATMs (for supply of drinking water). He also issued necessary guidelines regarding developing Government Girls Smart School at a cost of Rs 2.44 crore and setting up an Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) at a cost of about Rs 2 crore. He also asked officials of the Sewerage Board to complete the replacement of the old pipes within the city as required. On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Anupam Kler and officials of other departments were also present.
