DC-11 vs SSP-11: Premier League final clash

The final match of the second Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Premier League, being organised by the District Cricket Association under the Punjab government's anti-drug campaign "Yudh Nashe Virudh", will be played between team DC-11 and SSP-11 on 1st February. This was stated by HDCA Secretary Dr Raman Ghai.

Dr Ghai said that in the last decisive league match, DC-11 defeated Sonalika-11 to seal their place in the final. Sonalika-11 won the toss and opted to bowl first, but the decision proved costly. Batting first, DC-11 posted a strong total of 188 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Captain Dr Pankaj Shiv and Tejinder Chaddha played brilliant knocks, scoring half-centuries. Tejinder Chaddha made 65 runs, while Dr Pankaj Shiv scored 50. Dr Upinder Sandhu contributed 22 and Dr Rohit Rajat added 18 runs. For Sonalika-11, Sunil Sood claimed four wickets, while Vishal Patial, Kuldeep Singh and Angara picked up one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 189 runs, Sonalika-11 were bowled out for 133 runs in 17.4 overs. Pawan Sharma top-scored with 26, Ankush made 21 and Dinesh chipped in with 13 runs. For DC-11, Dr Upinder Sandhu took four wickets, Rohit Rajat bagged two, while Dr Pankaj Shiv, Talwinder and Arvind Saini claimed one wicket each. With this victory, DC-11 booked their berth in the final, where they will take on SSP-11.

HDCA President Dr Daljit Khela said the main aim of the league was to involve youth, the corporate sector and government employees in supporting the Punjab government's campaign to make the state drug-free. Dr Ghai appreciated the efforts of coaches, trainers and officials for successfully organising the league and said that more senior and junior matches would be organised in future to strengthen the "Yudh Nashe Virudh" campaign.
