DC launches special cancer awareness campaign

Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal on Friday launched a special cancer awareness and check-up drive for women employees of the district administration and their women family members, in collaboration with Rotary Jalandhar West .
Lauding the initiative, the Deputy Commissioner called upon all women members of his staff to take benefit of the initiative.
The DC said that he himself being a doctor understands the importance of cancer awareness, including breast and cervical cancer, for the womenfolk. The DC also flagged off the Cancer Awareness Van which is fully equipped to conduct mammography and other related tests.
Adviser to the club, Dr SPS Grover announced free mammography of women employees and their women family members every second Saturday for two months. However, he said the number of days may be increased, if need be. The check-up will be done at New Ruby Hospital on Link road here.
Earlier, Dr Aggarwal was welcomed by Rotary Club president TPS Bajaj along with Dr Grover and Dr Sushma Chawla.
Senior gynaecologist and president, National Association for Reproductive and Child Health of India, Jalandhar chapter (NARCHI), Dr Sushma Chawla addressed the women employees and informed them as to how they can check for signs of breast cancer themselves at home.
