DC launches website, says it is more user-friendly

JALANDHAR: Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Jalandhar, on Monday launched a revamped and user-friendly website of district administration (jalandhar.nic.in), based on S3Wass (Scalable and Sugamya Website as a service framework) platform, which would be available in two languages English and Punjabi.

Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Jalandhar, on Monday launched a revamped and user-friendly website of district administration (jalandhar.nic.in), based on S3Wass (Scalable and Sugamya Website as a service framework) platform, which would be available in two languages English and Punjabi.

While inaugurating the facility, the DC said the updated version of the website had enhanced user-friendly facilities which could be accessed through any internet-ready device and was in compliance with Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) standard website norms or security standards.

He said the website could now be used by visually impaired persons with the help of speaking software which was easily installable on any system. A special feature had been added for colour blind users, through which they can access the website easily. He said the website would gave important and useful information about Jalandhar, various departments, services, contact numbers, notifications tenders, heritage places, elections, police stations of the district and many more. It could also be accessed on mobile phones.

The website has been developed on S3WaaS platform by National Informatics Centre (NIC), Jalandhar team, led by Senior Technical Director and District Informatics Officer Amolak Singh Kalsi under the guidance of S3WaaS team NIC, Head Quarters, New Delhi.
