Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal reviewed the progress of key highway projects underway in Jalandhar district, including the Delhi–Katra Expressway, the Amritsar–Bathinda project, and the Phagwara–Hoshiarpur highway, among others. Taking stock of the current status of these projects, Dr Aggarwal stressed the need for the speedy disposal of pending mutations in favour of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for land already acquired.

He instructed officials to prepare a detailed report on all pending mutations and ensure their swift resolution to expedite work on these crucial infrastructure projects. Terming the ongoing highway projects “milestones for the district’s economic growth,” the Deputy Commissioner said enhanced regional connectivity would open new avenues for development. He called for a co-ordinated, inter-departmental effort to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing works.

He also directed authorities to install signboards indicating the location of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) to facilitate students and parents visiting the premier institution.
