DC reviews progress of work at Burlton Park
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal today reviewed the progress of the ongoing development work at Burlton Park and directed officials to accelerate the pace of work. He emphasised transforming the park into a sports hub as well as a major attraction of the city.
During a meeting held at the District Administrative Complex, attended by Municipal Commissioner Gautam Jain and officials from various departments, the DC reviewed the status of beautification, cleanliness, lighting arrangements, greenery and boundary wall construction at the park. He instructed that all development tasks be completed within the stipulated time.
Dr Aggarwal said 30 floodlights had been installed at Burlton Park to ensure adequate lighting during evenings, enabling players to practice even at night. He instructed officials to promptly address any additional lighting requirements and speed up the installation of streetlights.
He also directed the installation of entry and exit gates by the end of this week emphasising the deployment of dedicated personnel to ensure timely opening and closing of the gates to facilitate smooth access for players and visitors.
While inspecting the progress of paintings on the park’s boundary walls, the Deputy Commissioner stated that approximately 40 paintings had been completed both inside and outside the boundary. He directed the Municipal Corporation to cover the entire boundary wall with creative and attractive artwork to enhance the park’s aesthetics. He also highlighted plans to promote art within the park by installing sculptures made from recycled materials.
Dr Aggarwal further reviewed the Municipal Corporation’s waste management efforts near the cricket stadium and the progress of MRF (Material Recovery Facility) processes.
Additionally, the DC issued instructions to develop green belts on both sides of the park’s exterior, construct walking tracks, ensure proper water arrangements, build new toilets and repair existing ones. For safety, he directed the police to deploy PCR (Police Control Room) personnel outside the park.
The meeting was attended by ACP Rishabh Bhola, along with officials from the Municipal Corporation and other departments.
