District Judge inspects facilities at Central Jail in Hoshiarpur
Hoshiarpur, August 22
District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Dilbagh Singh Johal visited Central Jail, Hoshiarpur, today. CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Raj Pal Rawal was present on the occasion.
The District and Sessions Judge heard the problems of the prisoners and undertrials and directed the Jail Superintendent to resolve them. He also obtained health related information about the prisoners and instructed Dr Puneet of the Central Jail accordingly. He also inspected the kitchen and directed the Jail Superintendent to take special care of cleanliness in the jail.
Under the scheme implemented for the help of poor prisoners, the Jail Superintendent has been instructed to send information about the cases in which seven days have passed since the bail orders were given to the undertrials and convicts. The information is to be sent to the office of the District Legal Services Authority. He also instructed to put up a list of names of panel advocates and legal aid defence counsel on the notice board outside every barrack.
The judge also inaugurated a canteen in the Central Jail.
CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Raj Pal Rawal gave information about free legal services to women. He also inspected the work of the Legal Aid Clinic in the Central Jail.
