Drug peddler’s assets worth Rs 52 lakh frozen in Hoshiarpur district

In a decisive action against drug trafficking, the Jalandhar Rural police have frozen properties worth Rs 52 lakh belonging to a drug smuggler in Hoshiarpur district.
This latest action includes the freezing of a 9-marla house valued at Rs 45 lakh and a car worth Rs 7 lakh.
These assets were seized following the arrest of Lakvir Chand, a resident of New Shanti Nagar, Bajwara, Hoshiarpur, who was caught with 3.4 kg of opium. An additional 2.6 kg of opium was also recovered from a co-accused.
The freezing of these properties has been approved by the competent authority in New Delhi, marking another step in the ongoing efforts by the Jalandhar police to combat drug-related crimes.
As part of the continued crackdown on narcotics-related crime, the police have frozen 63 properties in the district. These include 15 properties in Sadar, Nakodar, 12 in Shahkot, 10 in Phillaur, 9 in Goraya, 5 in Mehatpur, 3 in Bhogpur, 2 each in Kartarpur, Lohian, and Lambra, and 1 each in Maqsudan, Nurmahal, City Nakodar and Adampur.
SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh highlighted the importance of such actions in dismantling the financial networks of drug traffickers. With these latest seizures, the total value of properties frozen by the police has now surpassed Rs 57 crore.
