Government employees, angry over the refusal to implement old pension scheme, have sent a “show-cause notice” to Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Rouri. The notice to Rouri was received by his OSD Charanjit Singh Channi in his absence. Leaders of the Democratic Teachers’ Front said a large number of employees from Garhshankar would participate in the three-day Sangrur pension march.

Democratic Teachers’ Front (DTF) state leader Sukhdev Dansiwal, state joint secretary Mukesh Kumar and Balkar Singh said the AAP government had failed to fulfil its election promise to implement the old pension system. It had surrendered before the BJP government at the Centre and failed to protect the interests of employees.

They said a notification issued by the AAP government on November 18, 2022, regarding old pension had also proved to be only on the paper.

In protest against this failure of the government, today the Purani Pension Prapti Front, Samana, issued a “show-cause notice” to the Deputy Speaker and to the Chief Minister.

If the government does not respond by September 30, a “Pension Prapti Morcha” will be held in the Chief Minister’s city Sangrur from October 1 to 3.
