A two-day training workshop being organised by the state Education Department commenced at the Regional Institution of Cooperation Management (RICM) in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

The objective of the workshop is to ensure capacity building in officials and teachers so that they can develop ability of scientific analysis to prepare a meticulous plan for channelising energy and resources in the right direction.

At the workshop, district education officers (secondary), deputy district education officers (secondary), district mentors of various subjects from Nawanshahr, Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur districts presented PowerPoint presentations. They highlighted their micro planning for achieving the ‘Mission Cent Percent’.

Divulging details, Harcharan Singh, District Education Officer (secondary), Nawanshahr, said the two-day workshop was being organised to impart training to district-level officials. He said Dr Jatinder Singh, statistical analysis expert, dwelt upon data analysis.

He said a special brainstorming session was held in which the district-level officials were asked to share their innovative ideas and practices to prepare comparative analysis of the performance of board class students.

“The purpose of the whole exercise was to identify the weaknesses and solutions to it so that resources can be used judiciously to bring in improvement to achieve the desired target,” said Harcharan.

Education Secretary Krishan Kumar addressed the inaugural session. He lauded the efforts of teachers for sprucing up infrastructural facilities by converting government schools into self-made smart schools and bringing in qualitative improvement in the standard of education.

He said, “The main idea to organise the training workshop is to ensure capacity building in officials of the Education Department and teachers so that they can develop an ability of scientific analysis to prepare a meticulous plan for channelising energy and resources in the right direction.”

The Education Secretary added that it would not only help district officials play a proactive role in achieving the desired results, but hone up their skills to prepare a vision for improvement in school education. He asked the school principals and headmasters to form strategies through which problems of students could be solved in an easy way.

Inderjit Singh, Director, SCERT; Jarnail Singh Kaleke, Assistant Director (Trainings); Bindu Gulati, Assistant Director, SCERT; Rajesh Jain, Nirmal Kaur and Balwinder Singh were present on the occasion.
