A joint delegation of employee and pensioner unions of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) met the Executive Engineer of the Goraya division to express concerns over a reported proposal to shift another office onto PSPCL land in the area.

The delegation included representatives from the Technical Services Union, the Employees Federation (Bhalwan) and the Pensioners Association (regd). Addressing the issue, union representatives Balwinder Singh and Sanjeev Kaushal said they had received information from reliable sources indicating that a plan was being considered to allocate PSPCL land in Goraya for purposes other than the power utility’s operations. They emphasised that such a move would be strongly opposed, particularly at a time when employee organisations across Punjab are already agitating against the transfer or sale of PSPCL assets.

The delegation urged the Executive Engineer to refrain from initiating any action related to the proposed shift, warning that unions would not hesitate to launch a protest if the plan moves forward. They further cautioned that any disruption to the industrial atmosphere arising from such decisions would be the responsibility of the authorities concerned.

The meeting was attended by several members, including pensioners Shiv Kumar Tiwari, Pyara Ram, Balwinder Pal, Mohan Singh Negi and Kulwinder Singh.
