Ensure PwD voters go to exercise franchise: ADC

JALANDHAR: Jasbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Jalandhar, today said in order to encourage the persons with disabilities (PwD) voters to participate in the ensuing general elections, the Jalandhar administration would hold a district-level function on March 27.

Jasbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Jalandhar, today said in order to encourage the persons with disabilities (PwD) voters to participate in the ensuing general elections, the Jalandhar administration would hold a district-level function on March 27.

Presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements for the upcoming event, the ADC said the PwD voters were an inseparable part of the electoral process and they need to be encouraged for participating in the upcoming polls.

He said the district administration would ensure the presence of a large number of PwD voters in the function, being organised at St Soldier Law College, so that they could be apprised of the initiatives taken by the Election Commission to ensure that they were able to exercise their franchise judiciously.

The ADC said the district administration would not leave any stone unturned for making the event a success.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner asked various departments, inc luding Education, Social Security, Health, Banks and others to make necessary arrangements for the event.

He said there were around 7,000 PwD voters in the district and every effort would be made to ensure that they participate in electoral process wholeheartedly. Jasbir Singh said the district administration was committed to ensure that PWD voters were able to cast their votes in a hassle-free manner.
