Ensure white strip along roads ahead of fog, DC tells officials
Regional Transport Officer Inderpal apprised the DC that the district road safety committee was carrying out awareness events
Ahead of foggy conditions, Deputy Commissioner Ankurjeet Singh on Tuesday directed the officials to ensure requisite road safety measures, including putting white strip on highways, major and link roads so as to facilitate safe travel for commuters.
Taking stock of the road safety measures at local District Administrative Complex, Singh asserted key safety steps should should be taken to avoid road mishaps amid fog in the winters. He directed the officials of NHAI, PWD and Mandi Board to identify black spots vis-a-vis initiating required repair for seamless travel.
He said proper marking of white strip on the both sides of the roads was a must, especially amid dense fog.
Meanwhile, the Regional Transport Officer Inderpal apprised the DC that the district road safety committee was carrying out awareness events, besides launching checking of vehicles under ‘Safe School Vahan Policy’. As many as 26 buses were checked so far, and 12 challans were issued for non-compliance of traffic norms.
The DC emphasised that the the challaned vehicles should be re-checked after a short span of time to inspect whether the violations are rectified or not.
