The “Aapki Poonji, Aapka Adhikar” initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Financial Services, aims to empower citizens by guiding them on how to search for their unclaimed assets, update their records with financial institutions and complete the claim procedures.

Jasbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development), Jalandhar, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he explained the practical methods available for the public to claim unclaimed funds and urged people to spread awareness within their families and communities. “Many people may have old documents or papers that can help them recover their rightful money,” he said. He also emphasised the importance of Re-KYC (regular updating of Know Your Customer details) and nominations in bank accounts to prevent complications in cases of deceased claims.

The event saw the participation of key figures from the banking sector, including Jagdish Prasad, Deputy General Manager, Punjab National Bank, Amritsar (representing SLBC) and MS Moti, Lead District Manager (LDM), Jalandhar, along with other dignitaries from major banks.
