A case has been registered against JS Farm owner Upkar Singh Hothi after an alleged shortage of approximately 16,000 wheat bags was detected at his premises during official verification.
Officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department stated that routine inspections of the stored government wheat for the year 2025-26 were being conducted regularly. However, in recent days, the farm owner allegedly denied entry to the inspection teams, which raised suspicion regarding the stock position.
According to the statement released by the rural police, an application was received from the District Food and Civil Supplies Department, Jalandhar, regarding obstruction in access to Punjab Government Central Pool wheat stored at JS Farm, Sarmastpur. A total of 49,672 jute bags (approximately 24,836 quintals) of government wheat are presently stored at the said premises.
“On February 17, Food and Supply Officer Manish Kumar, along with his team, visited the site to inspect the godown. However, the team was allegedly denied entry by the farm owner, Upkar Singh Hothi. It has further been reported that the owner removed the security personnel deployed for safeguarding the government wheat, raising serious concerns about the safety of the stock and affecting the lifting operations,” the statement reads.
FIR under Sections 316(2), 314, 221, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Maqsudan, District Jalandhar Rural.
The Jalandhar Rural Police are conducting continuous raids, blockades and checking operations to apprehend the accused at the earliest.
