Five illegal colonies demolished on city outskirts

JALANDHAR: Launching a crackdown on illegal colonies in the district, the Jalandhar Development Authority (JDA) on Tuesday demolished five illegal colonies on the outskirts of the city.

Launching a crackdown on illegal colonies in the district, the Jalandhar Development Authority (JDA) on Tuesday demolished five illegal colonies on the outskirts of the city.

On the directions of JDA Chief Administrator Jitendra Jorwal, a special team of the civic body razed the illegal colonies in Patara, Raipur Rasoolpur, Jandu Singha, Chugawa and Sangal Sohal villages. A large number of police personnel were deployed on the occasion,.

The JDA Chief Administrator said mushrooming of illegal colonies would not be allowed in the district.

He said the JDA was also keeping strict vigil to check such colonies.

Jorwal said according to the directions of the state government, the JDA would take strict action against any such colony or building in its jurisdiction.

Jorwal added that the JDA had already set up a special regulatory authority to take stringent action against violators and had been strengthening its regulatory wing.

He said a centralised complaint cell had been set up to register and maintain all complaints received on phone or in writing.— TNS
