Jalandhar, July 13

Taking strong stand against the working of contractor and officials of National Highway Authority of India, Adampur SAD MLA Pawan Tinu on Thursday gave a 15-day ultimatum to rectify the defunct drains. He said the drains which were not collecting and channelising rainwater were causing inconvenience to travellers on the highway and had become a severe safety threat. Giving ultimatum, he asked the authorities to rectify the problem in a fortnight or else stop collecting toll.

Tinu further said engineers and officials of the NHAI had designed faulty drains, which not only blocked the way of the people having houses and shops alongside roads, but have also caused inconvenience to the residents of highway stretch in the villages including Chuharwali Udesian Kathar falling in his constituency on the Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur road. — TNS
