To keep a check on the spread of water-borne disease in the flood-hit villages, the district administration on Saturday started fogging drive in these areas with six fogging machines in the affected areas.
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said: “As the water has started receding in these areas, fogging was must to prevent the breeding ground for mosquitoes in these villages.
“The fogging will be carried out in villages, including Jania, Jania Chahal, Mehrajwala, Gatti Raipur, Mandi Kasu, Mandala Channa, Mundi Sheriyan, Mandi Kaalu, Gata Mandi Kasu, Mandala, Naseerpur and others," he added.
Sharma said: The portable machines will be taken on the boats to the areas still inundated with water to control the any kind of vector-borne diseases as in the medical camps, the people are also being examined and cases of diarrhoea, fever, throat infections and skin problems are being reported.”
He told that the health teams are visiting house-to-house on boats already and medicines are being given to the affected people.
Sarkaria said: “The Joint Deputy Director Local Government has been appointed as the in-charge of the fogging drive to ensure the coverage of all villages.”
