Phagwara: The Phillaur police have arrested four persons and seized 400 intoxicant tablets, 15-gm heroin, and Rs 13,540 drug money from them. SP (D) Sarabjit Singh Bahia said Kamaljit, a resident of Tehing village, was nabbed by a police party on the Phillaur-Nawanshahr road and 15 gm of heroin and drugs money of Rs 13,540 was recovered from him. In another case, the Phillaur police arrested three persons and seized 400 intoxicant tablets from their possession on Monday night.The arrested pesons were identified as Lakhbir Singh and Balkar, both residents of Silkiana village, and Harpreet, a resident of Kalam village. All were arrested near a petrol pump in Phillaur. OC
Man held with 500 gm of ganja
Phagwara: The city police arrested a man with 500 gm of ganja on Monday night. The accused was identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of Chhagh Colony, Industrial Area. He was nabbed at a check-point near Labour Colony, the police said. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered against the accused.
Two held for brewing liquor
Lohian: The Lohian Khas police on Tuesday arrested two persons on the charge of brewing illicit liquor. Station House Officer (SHO) Sukhdev Singh said the accused had been identified as Madan Lal and Harjindar Singh, both residents of Muridwal village. The SHO said 160 litres of lahan and utensils for brewing and storing lahan were recovered from the accused. The accused has been booked under the Excise Act. OC
Three booked on charge of theft
Shahkot: The Shahkot police on Monday booked three persons on the charge of stealing maize seeds bags from a cold store. Investigating Officer (IO) said the suspects had been identified as Puran Singh, alias Puri, a resident of Parjian Biharipur village, Aman Kumar, alias Tita, of Sidham Bet in Ludhiana, and Jasvir Singh, alias Kaka, of Ajate Wal village in Ludhiana. Paramjit Singh complained to the police that the suspects stole 75 bags of maize seeds kept in a store. A case under Sections 380 and 457, IPC, has been registered against the suspects. OC
Cops book 6 for stealing trees
Nakodar: The Nakodar sadar police on Tuesday booked about half a dozen unidentified persons on the charge of stealing trees from common street. Rajindar Kumar of Tahli village complained to the police that unidentified persons stole trees from panchayat street and damaged Gurdwara building and Nishan Sahib. A case under Sections 379, 427,148 and149 of the IPC has been registered against unidentified persons. OC
