Jalandhar, April 25
The Jalandhar rural police arrested four members of a notorious snatchers’ gang.
The gang members have been identified as Maninder Singh, alias Mani, Gurnam Singh, alias Gopi, both residents of Mohri Chak Village, in Hoshiarpur, Sanamdeep Singh, alias Goli, a resident of Nikku Chak village, Hoshiarpur, and Prince Kumar, alias Mani, a resident of Sipria, Hoshiarpur. They were also involved in theft cases.
The police recovered snatched and stolen items, including 50 stolen mobile phones, 30 batteries, 46 chargers, two pistol lighters, a pistol pouch, a shaving machine, a dongle and two motorcycles, from them.
While addressing mediapersons, Rajveer Singh, SP (Investigation) said on Wednesday, ASI Gurnam Singh, along with a police party, while conducting patrolling and checking of suspicious persons at the Bholath turning point received information that the suspects were coming towards Bhogpur on motorcycles to sell their snatched articles.
During investigation, ASI Gurnam Singh, along with a police party, set up a naka at Kharla village turning point, GT Road. Four persons riding two motorcycles were intercepted on suspicion. On being asked, they revealed their identity as Maninder Singh and Gurnam singh, both residents of Mohri Chak village in Hoshiarpur, and Sanamdeep Singh and Prince Kumar from Hoshiarpur.
An FIR was registered under Sections 379 and 411 of the IPC at the Bhogpur police station. Their personal search led to recovery of the above mentioned items.
Later, they were arrested. A probe into the matter was being conducted and more revelations were expected, the police said.
