HMV College bags first prize for cultural show

JALANDHAR: Contingents of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Punjab Police (Men) were adjudged the best contingents of parade during the Independence Day celebrations, while patriotic cultural item presented by HMV College bagged the first prize.

Contingents of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Punjab Police (Men) were adjudged the best contingents of parade during the Independence Day celebrations, while patriotic cultural item presented by HMV College bagged the first prize.

Sports Minister, Punjab, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He handed over the prizes to the winners.

The CRPF bagged the first prize in the paramilitary category, whereas contingent of PAP (Men) bagged the first prize in Punjab Police category. Consolation prize was given to Punjab Home Guards. Amongst senior division of National Cadet Corps (NCC), the contingent of NCC Boys (Army) bagged the first prize whereas consolation prize was given to NCC girls senior division.

In the junior division of the NCC, the contingent of NCC (Boys) bagged the first prize. Amongst the scouts, the contingent of Lyallpur Khalsa School, bagged the first prize. The Girls Guide of Lyallpur Khalsa School bagged the first prize amongst the guides.

A patriotic cultural item presented by the HMV College bagged the first prize in cultural items. The bands of the Army and the CRPF also bagged the first position. The contingents of Tandarust Punjab and District Legal Services Authority were given consolation prizes.The chief guest also felicitated the parade commander Maninder Pal Singh, who led the march-past. He also announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh for the participating educational institutions.
