Honey Joshi, Angad win Youth Congress polls

JALANDHAR: In the results of the Youth Congress elections declared here today, Honey Joshi, who had the support of all MLAs and halqa in-charges of Jalandhar (rural), won the poll, becoming the Jalandhar (rural) Youth Congress president.

Jalandhar, December 7

In the results of the Youth Congress elections declared here today, Honey Joshi, who had the support of all MLAs and halqa in-charges of Jalandhar (rural), won the poll, becoming the Jalandhar (rural) Youth Congress president.

He defeated Manvir Cheema, who enjoyed the support of Jalandhar MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh and his son and former PYC chief Vikramjit Chaudhary. While Joshi polled 693 votes, Cheema followed with 619 votes.

In Jalandhar (urban) Youth Congress poll, Angad Dutta, who was last time Jalandhar Cantt Youth Congress president, won the polls defeating his nearest rival Deepak Khosla by 242 votes. While Angad polled exactly 1,000 votes, Khosla got 758 votes.

He was followed by Rajesh Agnihotri with 534 votes.

Angad, who did not have any direct support of Jalandhar city MLAs, won on the basis of his youth leadership skills. His father deceased Anil Dutta too had started his political career as Jalandhar district Youth Congress president in 1982.

“Had my dad witnessed my victory, he would have been really happy,” Angad said.
