In a significant boost for women's cricket in the region, young cricketer Surabhi from Hoshiarpur has been selected for the BCCI Under-19 National Cricket Academy (NCA) camp in Bengaluru. Her selection marks a proud moment for the district and reflects the growing talent emerging from grassroots cricket centres.
A Class XII student of Woodland School, Surabhi has been training at the Hoshiarpur District Cricket Association (HDCA) centre, where she has consistently impressed coaches with her discipline, technique and match temperament. Her steady rise through district-level competitions and consistent performances have now earned her a place among the country's promising young cricketers.
According to HDCA officials, the national camp is being held at the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru. HDCA secretary Dr Raman Ghai said Surabhi's selection is a testament to the structured training and support provided at the district level. Coaches, including Davinder Kaur Kalyan and the supporting staff, also lauded her dedication and commitment to the sport.
Before her departure for Bengaluru, Surabhi was felicitated by former Member of Parliament Avinash Rai Khanna, who congratulated her on the achievement. Khanna said that her selection would significantly boost the morale of young girls in the district. "Surabhi has made Hoshiarpur proud by reaching the national level. Her success will encourage many more girls to take up cricket and pursue their dreams with dedication," he said.
