The selection of promising women cricketer Surbhi, a student of Woodland School and trainee at the Hoshiarpur HDCA Centre, in the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) camp has brought a wave of excitement among cricket players across the district.
Dr Raman Ghai, secretary, HDCA, said Surbhi’s selection for this prestigious national-level camp is expected to take Hoshiarpur cricket to new heights. He informed that in the one-month training camp to be held at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, selected players, including Surbhi, will be trained in the finer aspects of the game by national-level coaches.
He added that Surbhi’s achievement will serve as an inspiration for other women cricketers and young players in the district to work harder and aim higher. He further noted that the selection of Surbhi along with Punjab players Harsimranjeet Kaur and Panmeet Kaur Bindra in the Under-19 category is a matter of great pride for the state.
On this occasion, HDCA president Dr Daljit Khaila, along with coaches Devinder Kaur Kalyan, assistant coach Nikita Kumari, trainer Kuldeep Dhami, district coach Daljit Singh, assistant coaches Pankaj Pinka, Daljit Dhiman, Praveen Kumar and Dinesh Sharma, felicitated Surbhi and extended best wishes for her bright future.
