MLAs Brahm Shankar Jimpa and Dr Ishank Kumar Chabbewal inaugurated the wheat procurement process at the local grain market, reaffirming the Punjab government’s commitment to purchasing every grain of farmers’ produce without inconvenience.
While initiating procurement by purchasing the crop of farmer Balwinder Singh from Dada village, the leaders highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, several farmer-friendly decisions have been implemented, benefiting cultivators across the state. They emphasised that Punjab has consistently played a leading role in ensuring national food security and assured timely payments to farmers within the stipulated period.
MLA Jimpa said, “The Punjab government is committed to purchasing every grain of farmers’ produce and no farmer will face any difficulty during the procurement process in the mandis of Hoshiarpur.” Dr Ishank added that the government has ensured adequate irrigation water, daytime electricity supply and smooth procurement arrangements in mandis, along with facilities for labourers and commission agents.
Officials stated that over 5,201 metric tonnes of wheat have arrived in district mandis so far, out of which more than 1,610 metric tonnes have been procured. Wheat arrivals have been recorded in 46 out of 78 mandis, with multiple agencies actively carrying out procurement operations. The administration has assured payments within 48 hours and lifting within 72 hours during the ongoing procurement season.
