SHO Gursharan Singh said that a case under BNS Sections 103 (murder) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence or giving false information to screen an offender) has been registered against the accused.

Ranna, a close relative of the deceased, told the police that Anubala’s husband, who was living abroad suddenly came back on November 2 and brutally beat Anubala and admitted her to a hospital, claiming it was an accident. The victim was referred to the Jalandhar civil hospital, where she said that her in-laws had brutally beat her.

The Jalandhar civil hospital referred her to Amritsar after five days, but her in-laws admitted her into a private clinic in Jalandhar, where she succumbed to her injuries on November 10. The SHO said the accused allegedly doubted Anubala’s character. No arrests have been made but raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused.
