IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala (JGNDPSOU) on Thursday. The ceremony was chaired by vice-chancellor of IKG PTU Prof (Dr) Susheel Mittal and Vice-chancellor of JGNDPSOU Prof (Dr) Rattan Singh. This initiative was taken by office of Dean Planning & External Planning (P&EP) IKGPTU.
Dean P&EP Dr RPS Bedi shared that the scope of this MoU is to promote cooperation in the fields of education and academic research. Through this MoU both institutions shall collaborate to develop and strengthen academic and research programmes across various disciplines, including interdisciplinary initiatives aligned with emerging societal and industry needs.
Further Dr Bedi shared that both institutions agree to share academic resources such as faculty expertise, library resources, laboratories, learning materials and academic infrastructure etc. He said that both institutions may jointly collaborate in the design, review, revision, and development of curricula, syllabi, and academic frameworks, aligned with best practices and the specific academic and skill-based requirements.
Dr Mittal congratulated both institutions teams adding that such a collaboration should be advisory in nature and implemented through statutory approval mechanisms. He shared that Institutions shall collaborate to develop and strengthen domain-specific and skill-oriented programmes offered by both institutions, aimed at enhancing employability, professional growth, and lifelong learning opportunities for students.
He said that Research and Development (R&D), development of joint publications, research-oriented events such as seminars, workshops, conferences, and symposia, in accordance with mutually agreed terms should also be organised.
At the time of MoU ceremony, Dr Navdeepak Sandhu, Registrar IKGPTU, Dr Amitoj Singh, Associate Dean (Academic) JGNDPSOU, Patiala, Dr Ekonkar Singh Johal, Deputy Registrar P&EP (IKGPTU), Dr Shefali Bedi, Assistant Professor (JGNDPSOU, Patiala) were also present.
