A two-day inno-tech exhibition which was underway at Science City concluded today. Dr Mohan Paul Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bhatinda was the keynote speaker on the occasion.

Dr Mohan Paul said: “Development at any phase is always linked with technology. Over the decades, innovation and creativity have become critical skills for achieving success in developed economies. It is important for the students to take part in science exhibitions and spend time developing new ideas.”

Dr Paul said: “The future of the country is in the hands of young talent who through their scientific approach can take the nation to new heights.”

Dr Neelima Jerath, director general, Science City, said:“ Setting up of the culture of innovation is required for which young generation can play an important role. Young minds are enriched with innovative ideas and it is important to provide a suitable platform to them to nurture innovation and creativity.”

Dr Neelima said: “ Science City has already set-up an ‘Innovation Hub’, wherein as many as 500 members have been enrolled from school and technical colleges of the state”.

She said under the ‘Innovation Hub’ over 40 workshops had been successfully conducted on various topics, including Robotics, assembling-dissembling of electric iron, origamy, science behind miracle and biology.

Results of the Inno-tech in different categories

Results of models in Software Engineering: Chandigarh Engineering College (Model: virtual physical fitness trainer artificial intelligence) and IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (Model: ELM Centralised Education Institute System), has won the first and second prize respectively.

In Mechatronics (Polytechnic) category: Polytechnic College Thapar, Jagat Ram Polytechnic College, Hoshiarpur, and Chandigarh Polytechnic College, Gharuan, Mohali clinched the first, second and third prize respectively.

In Mechatronics (Engineering) category: CGC Landran, SAS Nagar (Model); Smart Battery Renting System for Lithiumion batteries); Rayat Group of Institute Ropar (Model: head motion controlled wheel chair for disable person) and IKG Punjab Technical University Main Campus (Model: Smart Extension Board) bagged the first, second and third prize respectively.
