PHAGWARA: Providing collective-cosmic platform to international students of over 50 countries to represent heritage, achievements and celebrations of their respective countries, Lovely Professional University (LPU) has been organising its annual two-day international fest ‘One World’.

Providing collective-cosmic platform to international students of over 50 countries to represent heritage, achievements and celebrations of their respective countries, Lovely Professional University (LPU) has been organising its annual two-day international fest ‘One World’.

This year, the 9th edition of the fest is primarily on the theme of ‘International trade, commerce and industry’.

Twelve Ambassadors and diplomats from eight nations witnessed the premier celebrations of the fest on the first day today. The esteemed guests not only appreciated lively cultural presentations of their countries but also danced to the tune of favourite rhythmic beats of other countries.

Ambassadors and prominent personalities of different countries along with LPU chancellor Ashok Mittal and pro-chancellor Rashmi Mittal jointly inaugurared the cultural extravaganza. The event was flagged off for 4 km colourful cultural procession, comprising 100 international and national tableaux.

Showcasing cultural heritage of their respective countries and maintaining global unity, students of the country also participated in the fest.

Students were holding placards with slogans related to various festivities, trades, industry and businesses with respect to their country. Students were also seen with particular dresses, ornaments and other attributes of their country.

A total of 70 exhibition stalls were installed at the Baldev Raj Mittal Unipolis arena.

LPU chancellor Ashok Mittal said: “International students are always inspired to celebrate the annual megafest by showcasing and sharing their cultures and values with The students of other countries.”

International students share: “We have come to understand the ethnicity of other countries through their ritual celebrations on the campus. Besides, we have imbibed companionship and amity from all counterparts.”

Students exhibited myths, folklore, tribal tales, urban development, music, dance-forms, literature, chivalry, currencies, attires, languages and other achievements. Some of the participating students include those from China, Bhutan, Somalia, Malawi, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Mali, Maldives, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania, Mauritius and Tibet.

Students of different departments of LPU represented the heritage of Zambia, Ghana, Mauritius, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Mali, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast, Sri Lanka, Yemen and Lesotho.
