Jalandhar Police bust inter-district robbery gang
The Jalandhar rural police arrested five members of an inter-district robbery gang, recovering seven items, including illegal weapons, motorcycles, an air pistol, and stolen goods from them. Acting on a tip-off, Lohian Police raided a location near Kara Ram Singh Under Railway Bridge, where the gang was preparing to rob passers-by.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Jita, a resident of Kang Kalan; Sunny Kumar alias Sunny and Harpreet Singh alias Happy, both from Khosa; Gursharan Singh alias Sharna of Talwandi Salem and Rohit of Sultanpur Lodhi.
The police recovered one .32 bore country-made pistol with a live round, two motorcycles, an air pistol, a printer, and three smartphones during the operation.
Jalandhar Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said the operation was carried under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Jasrup Kaur Bath, and DSP Shahkot Onkar Singh Brar with Inspector Yadwinder Singh, SHO Lohian, leading the raid.
Four of the accused were arrested on the spot, while the fifth, who initially fled, was later apprehended.
Harkamal said the gang is linked to multiple crimes across Jalandhar and neighbouring districts, including thefts, extortion, and robberies.
