Jalandhar, August 3

The Jalandhar rural police arrested two persons and recovered 35-gm heroin, a motorbike from their possession. The suspects have been identified as Jatinder Kumar, a resident of Aiapur village in Tanda, and Ajit, a resident of Usman Shaheed village in Dasuya.

A police patrol party was stationed at the Kurshia checkpoint when the two accused were coming on a motorcyle from the Tanda side. Assitant Sub-Ispector Pippal Singh signalled them to stop for checking.

However, instead of stopping the vehicle they tried to flee, but the police team apprehended them. During checking, 25-gm heroin from Jatinder and 10-gm heroin from Ajit was seized. The police have impounded their motorcycle.

A case under Sections 21-B, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, has been registered against the duo. The police claimed the accused were history sheeters and had been coming daily to the area to sell narcotics. Several cases have been registered against them at different police stations in the district.
