Jeweller robbed of Rs 25,000 at gunpoint

JALANDHAR: As many as six unidentified robbers looted a jeweller at gunpoint inside his shop here on Wednesday.

As many as six unidentified robbers looted a jeweller at gunpoint inside his shop here on Wednesday.

The accused fled the crime scene with Rs 25,000.

As per information, Avinash Kumar, owner of Kumar Jewellers situated in Shiv Nagar, was held hostage and looted at gunpoint around 2.15 pm.

The victim told the police that six youths with their faces covered came to his shop and three of them pointed a gun at him and asked for the cash.

The complainant said the accused had sharp-edged weapons and after taking Rs 25,000, they fled from the shop.

The police said they had obtained the footage of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and the investigation was on.

The accused were yet to be identified, the police added.

A case under Section 395 (punishment for dacoity) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered.
