Judiciary, police force observe Women’s Day

International Women’s Day was celebrated at New Court Complex, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, under the leadership of Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Dr Amandeep. Civil Judge Senior Division Aprajita Joshi was also present on the occasion. The event was held under the guidance of Priya Sood, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA.

Sood extended greetings to all the women lawyers, women court employees and women police officials. Advocate Sapna Jaggi and Him Shikha Sakhi from ‘One Stop Centre’ made the audience aware about the SHE portal for lodging complaints about sexual harassment of women at workplace.

Meanwhile, SSP Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora today shared the vision of police force in ensuring security and safety of women in the district. He stated that 16 women help desks have been created throughout the district where women police officials are deputed to handle cases pertaining to women. The SSP said that Kapurthala police has women officials working at all levels. Phagwara sub-division is being controlled by Superintendent of Police Rupinder Kaur Bhatti. Furthermore, the Special Child and Juvenile Protection unit of Kapurthala police has organised 200 awareness seminars under Mission Jagriti in the last two months wherein women police officials visit schools and educate students about crime against women and children.

Also, the MLU DAV College in Phagwara celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm, honouring the achievements and contributions of women to society. The event held by the Red Ribbon Club today – under the guidance of Principal Dr Kiranjeet Randhawa – brought together students, faculty and staff to recognise the spirit of women empowerment and gender equality. — TNS
