Kapurthala: Deputy Commissioner Deepti Uppal took serious note of delays in the work under solid waste management and directed the officials to personally monitor them for speedy completion. She also reviewed the ongoing development works under MGNREGA, sports stadiums and parks in villages. Talking about the Jal Jeevan Mission, the officials said the target for the financial year 2021-22 had been fixed at 35,000 tabs against 23,300 last year. The DC also inquired about the community sanitary complexes under which 17 out of 38 works have been completed so far. Uppal asked the officials of Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Education Department, Panchayati Raj, Water Supply and Sanitation Department, to ensure that the development works in the district are completed in time. Mandis ready for procurement
Kapurthala: Before procurement in the district, 42 permanent mandis and sub-mandis are ready for procurement besides setting up temporary mandis to facilitate the farmers and labourers in view of Covid. Sodium hypochlorite is being sprayed in all mandis to control the spread of corona. Arrangements have been made for cleaning of mandis, while hand-free washing stations would also be set up at each mandi to save the farmers, artisans and labourers from corona. District Mandi Officer Arvinder Singh said that Mandi Board, Punjab, would provide sanitisers and masks to the farmers and labourers. TNS
