Hoshiarpur: Additional Deputy Commisioner, Lahore (Pakistan), has directed the Deputy Inspector General of Police (operations), Lahore, to provide appropriate security to the Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation (Pak) for its function to mark the Martyrdom Day of Bhagat Singh at Fawara Chowk (Shadman Chowk) in Lahore on March 23.

Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, chairman of the foundation, told this correspondent over phone from Lahore late this evening that the Lahore ADC (headquarters) has directed the DIG (operations), Lahore, to decide our application for the function. “The officer today has assured us that security would be provided,” he said.

Pakistan’s Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation had filed an application with the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore on this count on March 19.

Qureshi said: “We had filed an application in this regard and had requested to arrange for foolproof security for the function which would start at 4 pm on March 23. Deciding our application, he has directed the DIG to provide us appropriate security.”

He said peace between the two countries was their mission and this function would commemorate Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, the brave martyrs of both countries. — OC
