Lawyers to stay away from courts till Oct 1
To discuss about the plan of action on a call of strike given by the District Bar Association (DBA), Roopnagar, against the establishment of Gramin Nyayalayas (rural courts), a meeting of the Executive Committee of the DBA, Hoshiarpur, was convened. The executive unanimously resolved to support the call made by the DBA, Roopnagar.
Advocate Ranjit Kumar, president, DBA, Hoshiarpur, said, “The proposed Gramin Nyayalayas are likely to create procedural and practical complications, which may ultimately render the litigants and advocates at loss. Therefore, the DBA, Hoshiarpur, has resolved to refrain from appearing in all courts — civil, criminal, family, revenue, consumer, and labour courts — until October 1”.
He requested the Bar members to show solidarity to uphold the dignity of our profession and protect the interests of the public at large.
