The Jalandhar (Rural) police have arrested five persons and recovered two pistols and ammunition from a gang which is specialised in looting liquor vends at gunpoint.
The gang was busted with the efforts of Shiv Kumar, in-charge, CIA Staff. The police also also recovered a .32 bore pistol, a countrymade pistol of .315 bore, three live cartridges, two sharp weapons and a Mahindra Scorpio vehicle from them.
Navjot Singh Mahal, SSP, Jalandhar (Rural), said today around 6:30 am, inspector Shiv Kumar, along with a police party, was conducting a patrolling near the Panj Peer turning point, Jandiala Road. SI Sakander Singh, SHO, PS Sadar Nakodar, along with a police party, also reached the place.
They got information that gang members Sandeep Singh, alias Rimpa, and Pawandeep Singh, both residents of Sunra village in Nurmehal, Jaspreet Singh Bhode of Samrai village, Sukhvir Singh of Khusropur village in Kapurthala and Paramvir Singh of Mehtabgarh in Kapurthala were indulging in snatching incidents. The accused were convicted in snatching cases in the past also. They were out on a parole.
The police claimed that they got a tip-off that the accused were planning to loot liquor vends in a car (bearing fake registration number of PB-08-AZ-4299). A case has been registered under Sections 392, 395, 379-B, 402, 482, Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 25 of the Arms Act in this regard.
