Lovely Professional University (LPU) marked 2025 as a transformative year that redefined its academic, research, global and institutional footprint, emerging as one of India’s most impactful higher education institutions.
The year was characterised by the launch of EduRevolution, a bold academic initiative that shifted learning from traditional instruction to knowledge creation, critical thinking and real-world problem solving. By placing students at the centre of innovation and inquiry, EduRevolution became the driving force behind LPU’s wide-ranging achievements across disciplines.
LPU strengthened its global standing through remarkable performances in leading international and national rankings. The university secured the 5th position among Indian universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026 and was placed in the 501–600 global band. It achieved an exceptional 2nd position in India and 48th globally in the prestigious THE Impact Rankings 2025, reflecting its strong commitment to sustainable development goals. In the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, LPU ranked 14th in India and 544th globally, while the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2025 placed it 4th in India and 109th worldwide. At the national level, LPU secured the 31st position in the NIRF India Rankings 2025 among all government and private institutions, building upon its NAAC A++ accreditation with a score of 3.68 out of 4, along with NBA, ICAR and UGC recognitions.
Research and innovation emerged as defining pillars of LPU’s growth in 2025. The university recorded 27,851 research publications, garnered 296,359 citations and achieved an H-index of 183, supported by more than 550 national and international research collaborations. According to the Intellectual Property India Annual Report released by the Government of India, LPU emerged as the highest patent-filing academic institution in the country, filing a record 1,418 patents in a single year and surpassing premier institutions such as IITs and NITs. Overall, LPU has crossed 10,000 intellectual property filings, underscoring its leadership in applied research and innovation.
On the global front, LPU expanded its international engagement with over 500 Memoranda of Understanding signed with universities and organisations worldwide. During 2025 alone, the university added more than 80 new MoUs, signed over 10 articulation agreements, secured 60 exchange seats and inducted over 60 international adjunct professors. Global academic collaboration was further strengthened through platforms such as Global Week 2025 and the Annual International Conference on Global Studies (AICGS) 2025, which brought together experts, researchers and delegates from more than 15 countries, resulting in new collaborations and academic partnerships.
LPU also set new benchmarks in placements, standing out nationally with a highest domestic package of Rs 2.5 crore per annum, while international offers crossed Rs 1.03 crore, reflecting strong industry trust in the university’s talent and curriculum.
In sports, LPU reinforced its position as a national powerhouse. The year witnessed a historic moment when LPU student Prashant Veer became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history, signing with Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14.20 crore. At the Khelo India University Games 2025, LPU secured the first runner-up position for the third consecutive year with a record haul of 78 medals. Alumni and students also earned national honours, with Indian Hockey Team Captain and LPU alumnus Harmanpreet Singh receiving the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, while Sukhjeet Singh and Jarmanpreet Singh were conferred the Arjuna Award. Thirteen LPU students represented India at the FISU World University Games 2025 in Germany, further highlighting the university’s global sporting impact.
The campus remained a vibrant hub of ideas and inspiration throughout the year, hosting prominent personalities from diverse fields including actor Sonu Sood, ISRO Chairman Shri S. Somanath, former Union Minister Smriti Irani, educationist Khan Sir, spiritual leader Jaya Kishori, and entrepreneur Vineeta Singh, author Amish Tripathi, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, among others. These interactions enriched student learning through dialogue on leadership, innovation, governance and social responsibility.
Creative and innovation excellence further distinguished LPU’s 2025 journey. The university won the Overall Championship at the Punjab State Youth Festival 2025 and secured the First Runner-Up trophy at the 38th AIU Inter-University National Youth Festival. LPU also achieved a historic win at the 3rd AIU National Women’s Student Parliament, earned multiple top prizes at IIT Mandi’s National Tech Fest, and celebrated success at the Smart India Hackathon. Fourteen students represented LPU at the 76th Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, while student Jahnavi Dangeti made history as a TSI Astronaut Candidate set to travel to space in 2029.
