In the 38th AIU (Association of Indian Universities) North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival, LPU secured the first runner-up position. The five-day event, organised in Chandigarh, saw 21 universities from the northern states of Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Uttarakhand and Chandigarh compete in 27 diverse categories, including theatre, music, fine arts, literary arts and dance. Thousands of students participated in the vibrant competitions.

LPU stood out as the overall champion in both the music category and the cultural procession. The university also clinched runner-up positions in literary arts, theatre and fine arts. Backed by rigorous training, LPU’s performances earned them 20 honours, including five gold medals in events such as the Indian group song, folk orchestra, debate, poster making and cultural procession. Additionally, the university bagged eight silver medals in light vocal gazal, western group song, western instrument, classical dance, mime and on-the-spot painting. Seven bronze medals were also secured in cartooning, rangoli, mimicry, one-act play, skit, quiz and elocution.

The LPU chancellor, Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, expressed pride in the achievement. He said, “This remarkable success not only honours LPU but also enriches the cultural heritage of our nation. We remain committed to nurturing and supporting the creative and intellectual development of our students, providing them with opportunities to excel and lead in all fields.”
